I just illustrated these beauties with ink and watercolor on cardstock paper. Larger versions are here.

My tendency is to take a sheet of paper and the inspiration image and go to town, dump some ink in the really dark areas, then fill in other areas with some color as necessary. I mostly tend to splash around until it more or less looks good.

I know: great tutorial, right?

Art should be about play, and that's what I love to do.
