Inspired by Daily Paintworks "Moon" challenge. I love portraying the Moon, especially a crescent moon. In this one I was trying for some visual puns, with the night sky in the shape of a big fish, and the clouds in the shapes of more sea creatures. Signed on upper left corner. 6x6 inches, acrylic on wood panel.

I've been working on painting faster, and have found that if I paint thin, it's much easier to go fast. This one is a little tighter than what I've been doing lately. Still experimenting with this thinner paint body; maybe I can loosen it up just slightly. I also am enjoying putting glazes over an area, to either knock it back or give it some extra color.

I'm also taking an online illustration course given by award winning writer/illustrator, Mark Mitchell. It's giving me lots of great info and ideas.

Humpty is in love with the Red Queen, who doesn't know he exists. It's a good thing because she'd probably regard him as a pushover. The Queen is strolling in the distance, while the Cheshire Cat peeks out from the treetop. On the wall, it reads "HD + RQ." In the lefthand corner, Tweddle Dee left some snarky graffiti about Alice. The words "time" and "Alice" are visible, but what he really wrote was, "For a good time call Alice." The artist's signature "Theresa" is on the wall in the lower right corner.

This one came straight out of my head, without using any reference. I've always believed that cats are little furry dragons of a sort.

About the style and medium: I wanted to find a way to do pen and ink that could eliminate the need for glass, so that the painting could be enjoyed without any barriers between it and the viewer. Acrylic ink acts like acrylic paint; once it's dry it can be varnished over, and there you have it.
