A Couple Of Cute Chicks!

I got quite involved in making  chickens this summer. I found that adding borders to my work has brought an illustrative quality to it.

These girls are on 8″ by 8 ”  Ink and Watercolor on aqua board and are framed in a distressed frame that works well with the subject matter.  To see more of my work please go to www.susanmedyn.com
This work is for sale for $150 plus $10 shipping.

Tough Bird

My friend Kathrine Lovell lent me a book on various chickens and I liked the pose of this one. I love  the look on his face. He seems to be saying "Don't mess with me". I have the feeling I have raised a chicken like this before. He wouldn't go in his house, he strutted across the road in Arlington, MA, he slept on the top of a chair on our porch and he led the rest of the birds down the road to meet Alex as he got off the school bus every day.

Chickens though aren't destined for long lives and one day a mama fox snatched him away.

This guy is painted on  2" deep cradled aqua board and is 6" by 6" and for sale for $150 plus $10.00 shipping. If you are interested please contact me at susanmedyn@cox.net.

I am busy making these chicks for upcoming South Coast Artist Open Studios August 18th and 19th. It is a great weekend to come on down and tour the many artists studios in this lovely coastal area. www.southcoastartists.org for more information.

I have been making these whimsical watercolors for 35 years and have just discovered aqua board. I will be posting some new works I have done on this material shortly.
This weather has been great for swimming and we have been trying to swim daily since Memorial Day. We have so many birds come to our feeders but this year the hummingbirds are preferring to go to the bee balm and other plants over the feeder. Enjoy the Fourth of July.

My Emu U? by Visionary Artist Susan Medyn

Loving this cuddly little creation of mine. Now what size would it really be? Had a great time yesterday meeting with an interior designer who came to buy some work. Ended up realizing we had a lot in common artistically. She used to own a gallery in Newport, RI and we plan to get together with our spouses for a Sunday afternoon sitting at the shore and watching the sail boats go by Mt. Hope Bay. She lives right under a beautiful bridge that is lit up at night. We can see it when we swim from our little beach.
This is a 9" by 12" Ink and Watercolor on 300 pound Arches cold press paper. I love the stiffness of it. This work is for sale for $400.00. Please contact me at susanmedyn(at)cox.net if interested.

LICKETY-SPLIT By Visionary Artist Susan Medyn

This is a beautiful gallery printed gicleé of a series of 25 called Lickety Split, yes, both for the ice cream and the speed with which these creatures are getting to know one another. The origin of this phrase may come from the 1830's and 1840's. It is referenced in Scottish literature, such as: 'going at quite a lick'. I just like the title and have fun and work hard trying to come up with various new titles for my work. This is one of my fantastical visionary artworks with wild colors and imaginary creatures.
This frame work is for sale for $100 plus $20.00 for shipping within the continental US.
